And Beyond

Tanzania promotes its safari and island attractions to Indian travellers.

Tanzania has launched a strategic familiarisation (FAM) trip to pitch its unique “safari and island” dual appeal directly to the Indian travel market. Organized by the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) and the Tanzanian High Commission in New Delhi, the initiative brought a select delegation of 13 prominent Indian travel trade representatives to experience the country’s premier destinations.

The carefully curated itinerary was designed to demonstrate the seamless integration of mainland wildlife adventures with coastal island getaways. The delegation began their journey on the iconic Northern Safari Circuit, exploring Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti National Park, where they experienced premium game drives and luxury bush hospitality. Transitioning directly via a charter flight, the agents then flew to Zanzibar. The island leg showcased Stone Town’s rich heritage, beach properties like Neptune Pwani Beach Resort, and marine excursions, proving how easily the two experiences combine into a single holiday package.

A central pillar of the initiative was fostering direct industry ties. The TTB hosted a dedicated B2B networking session at the Blue Amber resort project in Zanzibar, connecting the Indian agents with local tour operators, hoteliers, and airlines.

With India securely positioned among Tanzania’s top 15 tourism source markets, local authorities aim to leverage this trade push to capture a larger share of India’s booming outbound leisure and MICE segments. The Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) welcomed the initiative, highlighting strong consumer interest and discussing plans to co-host future travel conventions to sustain the momentum.
