Leh Flights Increase to 18 Daily Ahead of Peak Travel Season.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena announced on Sunday that the number of flights at Leh airport has increased from eight to eighteen per day in order to improve air connectivity ahead of the busiest travel season.

“Ladakh is prepared to receive more tourists than in the past. As Ladakh’s tourist season gets underway,” Saxena is happy to announce a significant increase in aviation connection with Leh.

In addition to regular scheduled services that link Leh with important locations like Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar, and Chandigarh, these operations include two charter flights to Delhi and Chandigarh, according to officials.

As of April 2, there are now 18 daily flights at Leh Airport, connecting important cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Srinagar, and Chandigarh, thanks to our combined efforts. The L-G took to X, “Two more flights are anticipated to start operating soon, giving visitors more flexibility to plan their journey.”

According to the L-G, the increased aeroplane operations will improve Ladakh’s tourism industry, provide jobs for locals, and establish Ladakh as a handy, popular travel destination.

According to the officials, a group of tourism stakeholders, including representatives from the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association, All Ladakh Hotel and Guest House Association, and All Kargil Travel Trade Association, had previously visited the L-G and asked for his help in boosting the number of flights to Ladakh in order to encourage more visitors to the area.

Last year, Ladakh saw a significant drop in tourists, which had a negative impact on the livelihoods of individuals who relied on tourism-related businesses. According to the officials, the expansion of airline operations is anticipated to be essential in boosting the local economy and regaining the trust of tourists.

In view of the impending Great Exposition of the Holy Relics of Buddha in Leh in May and the first Sidhu Maha Kumbh in June of this year, they added the rise in daily airline operations also assumes significance.

Many tourists from both domestic and foreign countries are anticipated to attend these massive events.

Saxena reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to improving Ladakh’s connectivity and infrastructure.

He claimed that Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport’s New Terminal Building, which is almost finished, will greatly increase passenger handling capacity and offer a contemporary travel experience, increasing the number of visitors to the area.

With an emphasis on sustainable and well-planned development, the L-G stated that ongoing efforts are being made to establish Ladakh as one of the top tourism destinations in the nation.
