Saudia Becomes First Middle East & Africa Airline to Operate Airbus A321XLR.

Saudia currently serves more than 100 destinations across four continents, with the A321XLR. Notably, over 300 clients worldwide have placed over 19,900 orders for the A320 Family.

As the first airline in the Middle East and Africa to fly Airbus’ newest aircraft, Saudia, the national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has achieved a noteworthy milestone with the delivery of its first A321XLR.

The aircraft is the first of 15 A321XLRs that the airline has ordered, and it is powered by CFM International LEAP-1A engines. A key component of Saudi Arabia’s extensive fleet renovation program, its delivery directly supports the country’s worldwide network development in line with Saudi Vision 2030. The A321XLR will help the Kingdom achieve its goal of drawing more than 150 million tourists a year by the end of the decade by boosting capacity and connectivity.

This delivery strengthens the more than 40-year collaboration between Saudi Arabia and Airbus. With the A321XLR enabling future growth into new international markets, Saudia presently serves over 100 destinations on four continents. Saudia can increase its foreign destinations with a single-aisle aircraft thanks to the A321XLR, which has a range of up to 4,700 nautical miles. Larger widebody aircraft would have typically flown these routes while providing a first-rate visitor experience.

The aircraft has a high-end, low-density layout with 120 cosy Economy Class seats and 24 completely flat Business Class seats with direct aisle access. The aircraft’s Airbus Airspace Cabin gives a single-aisle jet a widebody experience. The aeroplane has sophisticated lighting systems, extra-large overhead bins, and other features.

The A320neo Family’s most recent variant, the A321XLR, was created to satisfy the desire for greater operational flexibility and range around the world. It reduces CO2 emissions and noise footprints by 30% per seat when compared to aircraft of earlier generations. All Airbus aircraft can currently run on 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the goal of reaching 100% SAF capability by 2030. This directly supports the sustainability objectives of the aviation sector.
