“Defaming Divine Land” Outcry over Sunny Leone’s Mathura New Year’s event.

Mathura: Due to heavy opposition from the local clerics, actor Sunny Leone’s New Year’s celebration at a pub in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, has been cancelled. In a promotional video that the bar released, Leone stated that she would be arriving on January 1 to ‘kick-start’ the New Year as a disc jockey. “I am super excited to tell you that I am coming to Mathura on 1st January as a DJ to kickstart the New Year with an unforgettable night,” she stated in the clip. The “biggest Bollywood sensation” referred to it as an event

However, citing Mathura as a “divine land,” priests called for the event to be cancelled. The former adult star Leone is preparing to display “vulgarity and obscenity” during the event, according to a letter written by a clergyman to the District Magistrate on Monday. “People come here to worship from all around the world. There are others who are plotting to discredit this holy place. By planning such events, they hope to provoke religious feelings. “These individuals seek to damage this holy city’s reputation,” he stated.

Amidst the commotion, the pub called off the event. “While paying respect to the respected and revered sages and saints, we are cancelling the programme of 1st January of Sunny Leone,” the establishment stated.
