Operating out of Navi Mumbai International Airport, Air India Express

One of the first airlines to start commercial services from the new airport on its inauguration day was Air India Express, the country’s first international value carrier, which began operations from Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) with direct flights to Bengaluru and Delhi.

Air India Express began operating at the airport when it launched its first flight from NMIA to Bengaluru. The first passenger received a commemorative boarding permit as part of a special ceremony held at NMIA to mark the milestone. The airline’s first flight to Delhi was then planned to take off from Navi Mumbai at 14:05 and reach the nation’s capital at 16:20.  “The beginning of flights from Navi Mumbai is a milestone for the city and the region,” stated Aloke Singh, Managing Director, Air India Express, in response to the announcement of operations from Navi Mumbai. We are pleased to contribute to this endeavour to increase Mumbai’s and the larger Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s capability. In addition to CSMIA, where we provide direct flights to 11 domestic and three international locations, Navi Mumbai is a crucial component of our dual-airport plan. Being here from the beginning shows how confident we are in NMIA’s potential and the part this airport will play in helping Mumbai resume its rapid growth trajectory. With the backing of a contemporary fleet, AIX will expand its operations in the future to provide visitors with dependable, cost-effective connectivity that is given with the warmth of Indian hospitality.

With more than 130 weekly flights from Mumbai and about 105 weekly flights from Pune, Air India Express is still expanding its presence in Maharashtra. Additionally, the airline has just started flights from Nagpur to Bengaluru, its biggest domestic hub, with 14 weekly flights running twice daily.  On its Boeing 737-8 aircraft, the airline recently renovated the passenger experience with wider armrests, improved seat cushioning, 29 to 38 inches of legroom, in-seat USB charging, ovens for hot “Gourmair” meals, updated interiors, and Boeing Sky Interior mood lighting. In addition, Air India Express’s “Tales of India” campaign highlights India’s cultural diversity through unique tail art derived from regional crafts. This initiative features more than 50 indigenous art forms from 25 states, such as the traditional Himroo and Paithani weaves and Maharashtra’s Warli paintings.
