Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines formalise strategic collaborative business partnership

Following clearance by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore in July 2025 and the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) in January 2026, Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) and Singapore Airlines (SIA) formally established their joint business partnership.

The approvals enable MAB and SIA to begin work progressively on extending their business collaboration, boosting connectivity and enabling greater options for customers travelling between Malaysia and Singapore. Potential initiatives include revenue sharing flights between the two countries, collaborative fare packages, coordinated flight schedules, and cooperative corporate travel arrangements throughout both markets. The carriers will provide further specifics as they are pushed out.

The formalisation of the strategic joint business partnership with Singapore Airlines is a step towards advancing the Group’s Long-Term Business Plan 3.0 and setting up Malaysia Airlines for its next stage of expansion, according to Datuk Captain Izham bin Ismail, Group Managing Director, Malaysia Aviation Group. Deeper connectivity between Malaysia and Singapore is made possible by this partnership, which combines complimentary frequencies and coordinated timetables. Over time, it improves Malaysia Airlines’ competitive position by boosting scale, relevance, and network resilience across important markets.”

“I would like to thank the authorities in both Singapore and Malaysia, whose approvals pave the way for this deeper strategic partnership between Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines,” stated Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines. Our mutually beneficial partnership improves customer value throughout our combined networks while bolstering the operations of both carriers. Additionally, this strengthens the long-standing and strong commercial and people-to-people ties between Singapore and Malaysia, promoting connectivity and economic growth that will be advantageous to both countries.

MAB and SIA have gradually increased their codeshare agreements since they signed their contract in October 2019. Today, SIA codeshares on Malaysia Airlines’ services between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, London (Heathrow), and 15 domestic destinations inside Malaysia. Singapore and Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia, as well as Barcelona, Brussels, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Johannesburg, London (Heathrow), Rome, and Zurich, all have MAB codeshares on SIA’s services.

In February 2024, both carriers announced reciprocal cross-participation between their frequent flyer programmes, allowing members to earn Enrich points and KrisFlyer miles on specified flights operated by the airlines.
