Akasa Air to launch flights from Navi Mumbai International Airport on December 25, linking four cities

Akasa Air will commence operations from the new Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) on December 25, 2025, launching direct flights that connect the airport with Delhi, Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad as part of its inaugural schedule.
Launch details
The maiden Akasa service will operate on the Delhi–Navi Mumbai route on December 25, with additional nonstops to Goa, Kochi, and Ahmedabad rolling out in the opening phase and bookings now open for select sectors. Akasa positions NMIA as a strategic hub in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, enhancing connectivity and enabling a dual-airport ecosystem alongside CSMIA.
Airline statement
Co-Founder and CCO Praveen Iyer called NMIA a landmark step for Akasa and a defining moment in India’s aviation evolution, noting the airline will progressively ramp up at the new airport in the months ahead. Early presence at NMIA supports Akasa’s plan to unlock new demand pools in western India with a scalable, future-ready network strategy.
Frequencies and ramp-up
Akasa intends to scale operations from NMIA to as many as 300 domestic and 50 international weekly departures over time, complementing broader network growth and planned base expansions through FY2027. Initial schedules highlight daily Goa services around the launch window, with further frequencies and city pairs to be added progressively.
Why it matters
The start of commercial flights at NMIA establishes Mumbai’s dual-airport system, decongesting traffic and expanding traveler choice while improving resilience across western India’s busiest air market. Being among the first movers at NMIA positions Akasa to capture first-wave demand and strengthen its brand presence in the region.
