IHCL Acquires 51% Stake in Atmantan

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed definitive agreements to acquire a 51% stake in Sparsh Infratech Pvt. Ltd., the owning company of Atmantan Wellness Centre near Pune, marking IHCL’s formal entry into the integrated wellness segment with ownership of the Atmantan brand and its proprietary programs.

Deal highlights

The acquisition provides IHCL controlling ownership and access to Atmantan’s science-backed wellness IP, enabling expansion of a dedicated wellness platform in collaboration with founders Sharmilee and Nikhil Kapur across select destinations in India and globally. Media reports indicate a transaction value of around ₹240 crore, comprising primary infusion and a secondary purchase to support growth and strengthen the balance sheet of the operating entity.

Strategic rationale

IHCL Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal said the move taps fast-growing wellness tourism as travelers seek immersive, holistic programs that blend health with hospitality, complementing IHCL’s multi-brand portfolio and long-term growth strategy. The tie-up integrates Atmantan’s proprietary, results-oriented protocols with IHCL’s scale and Taj InnerCircle’s 13 million-strong customer base to accelerate reach and category creation.

About Atmantan

Atmantan is a 97-key, GOLD LEED-certified integrated wellness destination spread across 36 acres overlooking Mulshi Lake and the Sahyadri hills, offering physician-led, personalized programs across Ayurveda, Yoga, Indian Naturopathy, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Counselling, Coaching, and Fitness. Since 2015, it has focused on stress management, detox, weight management, preventive health, and lifestyle transformation, underpinned by sustainable design and operations.

Founders’ perspective

Founders Nikhil and Sharmilee Kapur called the transaction a landmark for the wellness industry, noting alignment in values and the opportunity to scale Atmantan’s philosophy of harmony between atma (spirit), mana (mind), and tann (body) with IHCL’s hospitality expertise and distribution. They emphasized making transformative wellness more accessible while maintaining authenticity and clinical rigor across future locations.

What’s next

Post-close, IHCL plans to build out a broader wellness platform anchored by Atmantan’s brand and IP, with selective expansion into key destinations and integration within the IHCL ecosystem of hotels and experiences. The acquisition supports IHCL’s strategy to diversify revenue streams and capture growing demand at the intersection of luxury travel, preventive healthcare, and sustainable well-being.
