Norwegian Escape commemorates ten years of service

Delivered to Norwegian Cruise Line on October 22, 2015, the Norwegian Escape just celebrated ten years of operation.

The 164,600-ton vessel, the first in the company’s Breakaway Plus series, was constructed over a 17-month period at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany. After being delivered, the Norwegian Escape set off from Bremerhaven to begin a series of European inaugural celebrations.

On November 10, 2015, a pier-side ceremony at PortMiami marked the christening of the Norwegian Escape. Norwegian stated at the time that the event was intended to highlight its non-traditional cruising offering and its emphasis on customers’ freedom and flexibility.

Following the ceremony, a series of seven-night cruises to the Bahamas and Eastern Caribbean marked the start of the Norwegian Escape’s first season.

The ship is expected to provide cruises from New Orleans, Miami, and New York City in 2026. The itineraries, which range from five to fourteen nights, include stops in Canada, New England, and a variety of locations in the Western and Eastern Caribbean.

Prior to a drydock in Europe later this year, the Norwegian Escape is also scheduled to provide a transatlantic voyage. The 4,200-guest ship is anticipated to have its public spaces and amenities updated, just as other Breakaway Plus-class ships.
