In 2026, Bintan wants to be further involved with the Indian market

While leisure travel will continue to play a major role, the destination also hopes to increase its attention to MICE and weddings.

Bintan reportedly welcomed over 13,000 visitors from India between January and November 2025, demonstrating the market’s increasing significance. Strong connectivity via Singapore was observed, along with increased access via Malaysia, where ferry services are now available from Johor Bahru.

There is reportedly steady demand for family vacations, leisure time, and wellness-focused getaways. In 2025, experience-driven travel was crucial. Travellers looking for immersive and active vacations have reportedly been drawn to Bintan’s IP events, which include the Mandiri Bintan Marathon, sailing regattas, the BRAVE music festival, the Bintan Triathlon, and wellness retreats.

“India continues to be a priority market for Bintan,” stated Abdul Wahab, Chief Operating Officer of Bintan Resorts, regarding the destination’s strategy. We are witnessing demand in destination weddings, group travel, leisure, FIT, and MICE. Our goal is to increase relevance across all markets while making sure Indian tourists have easy access, reliable infrastructure, and a variety of experiences.

By 2026, Bintan hopes to strengthen its relationship with the Indian market through more focused partnerships, compelling narratives, and experiences that promote longer stays and return trips. With the help of resort-led event infrastructure and specially designed venues, leisure tourism will continue to play a major role, but the destination is also focussing more on MICE and weddings.
