Beginning in February 2026, Air India Express will operate weekly flights from Varanasi to Bangkok
In order to improve aviation connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and Thailand, aviation India Express has announced that it will begin weekly nonstop flights between Varanasi and Bangkok on February 1, 2026. In addition to giving visitors from Thailand easy access to Varanasi, Sarnath, and other important locations along India’s Buddhist circuit, the new service will give travellers from Varanasi direct access to one of Asia’s most well-liked leisure destinations. The airline’s website, mobile app, and main booking platforms are now accepting reservations for the route.
According to the revised itinerary, flights will depart Varanasi at 12:35 on Sundays, arriving in Bangkok at 18:05, and returning to Varanasi at 21:35 on Sundays (all local hours).
Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, commented on the announcement, saying, “The launch of this non-stop service to Bangkok offers easy access to one of India’s most popular overseas destinations. It is consistent with our strategic goal of improving direct international connectivity from the country’s rapidly expanding Tier-II and non-metro cities.
In addition to expanding the Buddhist travel route for tourists from Thailand, the service improves access to Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world and commonly considered India’s spiritual capital, for inbound passengers.
“This new connection supports our commitment to provide our guests with greater convenience and value, and it reflects our credo of growing the network with meaningful connections.”
The flight from Varanasi to Bangkok increases Air India Express’s presence in Thailand. Currently, the airline offers direct flights between Hyderabad and Phuket in addition to flights from Bangkok to Bengaluru, Lucknow, Pune, and Surat.
Additionally, the launch supports Air India Express’ expanding operations from Varanasi, where it presently offers more than 70 weekly flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Sharjah. In August 2015, the airline began operating flights to Sharjah, being the first to do so from Varanasi. Air India Express also has flights from Ayodhya, Hindon, and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.
Air India Express’s Boeing 737-8 aircraft, which sport the airline’s freshly updated interior experience, will fly the new route. Improvements include more legroom, more comfortable seats, hot “Gourmair” meals, in-seat USB charging, contemporary decor, and mood lighting from Boeing Sky Interior. The airline’s “Tales of India” tail art effort, which honours India’s cultural variety via patterns influenced by regional crafts like Banarasi weaving and Chikankari embroidery, is also displayed on the aircraft.
In addition to one-stop connections to more than 30 domestic and eight international destinations throughout its growing network of more than 60 destinations, Air India Express now provides direct connectivity from the city to three domestic destinations and two international points after adding Bangkok to its network from Varanasi.
