Direct flights between Bangkok and Varanasi have been announced by Air India Express
After Bengaluru, Lucknow, Pune, and Surat, Varanasi is now the fifth Indian city that Air India Express connects to Bangkok. Air India Express has planned weekly flights between Varanasi and Bangkok beginning February 1, 2026, enhancing connectivity between Thailand and Uttar Pradesh. Travellers from Varanasi will have easy, nonstop access to Bangkok thanks to the new service. In a same vein, it will give Thai visitors easy ways to get to Varanasi, Sarnath, and other important Buddhist sites. Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, commented on the announcement, saying, “The launch of this non-stop service to Bangkok offers easy access to one of India’s most popular overseas destinations. It is consistent with our strategic goal of improving direct international connectivity from the country’s rapidly expanding Tier-II and non-metro cities. The service expands the Buddhist travel route for tourists from Thailand and improves access to Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited towns in the world and commonly considered India’s spiritual capital, for inbound passengers. This new link supports our mission to provide our guests with more convenience and value by reflecting our ethos of growing the network with meaningful connections. From Varanasi, Air India Express has more than 70 weekly flights that link directly to three locations—Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai—as well as two overseas locations—Bangkok and Sharjah. Agartala, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Goa, Guwahati, Imphal, Indore, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kannur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Nagpur, North Goa, Pune, Ranchi, Srinagar, Vijaya Puram (Port Blair), Surat, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and eight international destinations are also served by the airline.
